Security forces say the car bomb blast in Londonderry overnight is the work of dissident Republicans.
The car packed with explosives was left on the Culmore Road one of Derry’s busiest thoroughfares.
The device exploded around 11 pm Central European Time roughly one hour after police received a warning.
Dozens of homes were evacuated and no one was hurt in the incident.
However, nearby buildings were damaged.
It is the second such incident in Derry since August when a booby-trapped vehicle was parked outside a police station in the city, causing substantial damage.
