Euro zone sentiment up


Economic sentiment in the euro zone unexpectedly improved in September. Germany was the biggest contributor to the overall rise.

But the European Commission’s monthly survey found that consumers in the 16 countries that use the euro are increasingly reluctant to make major purchases.

The Commission also said its business climate indicator rose which suggests economic activity in industry will continue to recover.

Outside the euro zone, the economic sentiment indicator for Britain fell.
