Swedish police have confirmed that a passenger jet flying from Canada to Pakistan has landed in Sweden after being diverted because of a bomb threat.

The Boeing 777 with more than 270 passengers landed at Stockholm’s main airport Arlanda.

One unconfirmed report on a newspaper website says it was a Pakistan Airlines jet flying from Calgary to Karachi.

Swedish police say a woman phoned Canadian police after the plane had taken off, saying a man on board had explosives with him.

They are said to be preparing to evacuate the aircraft. The police have been trying to make contact with the man, and are still investigating whether or not there are explosives on board.
