US president Barack Obama has said the door to diplomacy with Iran is still open at the UN in New York.
But he insisted Tehran had to demonstrate a clear and credible commitment to show the peaceful nature of its nuclear programme.
“The United States and the international community seek a resolution to our differences with Iran, and the doors remain open to diplomacy, should Iran choose to opt for it,’‘ Obama said.
Obama also repeated his call for a moratorium to halt Israeli settlement building in the West Bank to be extended. That is due to expire at the end of this month.
