BP says payouts to those affected by its Gulf of Mexico oil spill have shot up since an independent body took over dispensing funds on September 3.

The oil giant has put 15 billion euros into the fund to compensate those whose businesses have been hit by the catastrophe.

Since the Gulf Coast Claims Facility took over administering the sum, daily payouts have quadrupled to 9.5 million euros says BP.
