From Hollywood to Bollywood. In the latest twist in the MGM saga, one of the most famous characters of the silver screen, James Bond, could soon be the property of an Indian conglomerate.
Sahara India Pariwar is rumoured to be putting in a bid for debt-ridden Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the studio which owns Gone with the Wind and the James Bond series.
Filming of the latest 007 is on hold as creditors vote on a pre-packaged bankruptcy plan this week.
But Sahara, in which the Broccoli family has a stake, are believed to have offered to cover more than half the company’s debts.
Sahara has confirmed “mutual interest” talks are underway but isn’t commenting beyond that at this stage.
