As Pope Benedict continues his tour of the United Kingdom, five men have been arrested in London on suspicion of preparing a terror attack.
A spokesman for the Vatican said the Pope’s itinerary would remain unchanged.
“We can say that we are totally confident in the work of the police, of Scotland Yard. We have no particular preoccupation, and the police has already said that the information that they have until now collected demonstrated that there is no need to change anything about the program of the Pope and security.”
It’s believed the arrested men had been employed to clean the streets ahead of the papal visit to central London.
The Pope is set to address members of the Houses of Parliament and meet the Archbishop of Canterbury.
