The latest Middle East peace talks have continued in Jerusalem with both sides still addressing core disputes. President Obama has invested much political capital in these negotiations and his envoy, George Mitchell, said he is encouraged about prospects for agreement:

“It has been extremely impressive to see both leaders engaging in this fashion. They are serious; they mean business. They do have differences, we believe they can be overcome,” Mitchell said.

Today, EU Leaders will call on Israel to extend its freeze on settlement building in the West Bank, which is due to expire at the end of this month.
They want Israel to “refrain from actions” that could negatively affect the nascent peace process.
