Israel has bombed the Gaza Strip, killing one Palestinian and injuring three others.

The Israeli military said the airstrike on the town of Rafah was a response to Hamas militants firing rockets and mortars.

Hamas are known to use a network of tunnels around Rafah, close to the Egyptian border, to smuggle in weapons and other supplies to Gaza.

The strike followed two days of peace talks between the Israeli government and the Palestinian Authority.

Hamas, however, controls Gaza and is opposed to the direct negotiations.

The Israelis and the Palestinians are set to meet again in Jerusalem on Wednesday.
