France’s top court has banned an art exhibition that features human corpses with the skin removed.
Judges in Paris ruled that ‘Our Body’ cannot go ahead because displaying dead bodies for commercial gain is against French law.
Organisers had planned to charge an entry fee to see the exhibition.
According to the country’s civil code, the court said, the deceased must be treated with “respect, dignity and decency.”
The show has already been held in the French cities of Lyon and Marseille.
It displays the corpses in various different poses.
The bodies are preserved by being completely dehydrated before the flesh and bones are infused with plastic.
