Tourist tells Euronews about the bomb scare

People come from all over the world to visit the French capital’s iconic symbol. But tourists’ enjoyment of the Eiffel Tower was dramatically interrupted by the security alert. EuroNews spoke to a Brazilian student caught up in the events.

“I was on the first floor, at the souvenir shop, when a siren sounded,” said Gabriella Czarnobay. “Nobody knew what was happening. We were queueing to get out when the Eiffel Tower guards called to us to hurry, to leave the area. When we got to the ground, the policemen told us to run, and to not even wait for our family and friends. When I asked why, they said they couldn’t answer but it would be best to hurry up and leave the area for our safety.”
