Barca's Villa shows support for trapped miners

Spanish footballer David Villa, who hails from a mining family, has sent two signed jerseys to the 33 trapped Chilean miners.

The Barcelona striker’s father, grandfather and great grandfather all worked in the mines of Asturias, northern Spain.

The 33 men have been trapped 700 metres underground since August 5 when the mine they were working in collapsed.

Rescuers are drilling two bore holes into the mine to lift them out. However, they say it could be another three months before the operation is completed.
