Hundreds die in overcrowded Honduras prison fire This footage shows the scale of the explosion – a massive fireball was visible for miles around.
Some reports claim residents saw a plane going down, but these remain unconfirmed. It’s still also unclear how many people have been caught up in blaze, but dozens of houses in the US city’s San Bruno area were on fire suggesting the number of victims could be high.
Hundreds of firefighters are currently battling the inferno with emergency services trying to evacuate the disaster zone.
