Manga magic hits France’s Versailles

Versailles has gone Manga mad.

Eyepopping sculptures adorn the stunning gardens of the famous 17th century French Palace as part of a new exhibition by garish Japanese artist Takashi Murakami.

The contrast between the Baroque old and comic new is stark, something which delights the creator.

‘‘It’s wonderful and mostly it is the first time for a setting outside with my big sculpture so this environment is, you know, huge, like over my head so that is really, happy,’‘ Murakami said.

It is not just outside, Murakimi’s controversial work also rubs shoulders with Versailles’ internal treasures.

The exhibition runs until December 12.
