Dozens of families of people missing during the 1998-1999 Kosovo war have held a rally to urge authorities to do more to find their loved ones.
Marking International day of the Disappeared, the photos are a poignant display reflecting the hundreds of both Serbs and ethnic Albanians who are the lost but not forgotten casualties.
Nysrete Kumnova of the Association of the Missing said:“This is to remind the international and local institutions that these people all have names and addresses.”Abdullah Berisha lost his son – he is concerned the issue is fading away like some of the photos. “I have no hope that he is alive. The only hope I have is to find the remains and have a grave on which I can put flowers.Maybe that will ease the anger I have.”
The Red Cross says thousands of families in other conflicts such as the first Gulf War are still suffering, decades after the guns fell silent.
