Volcano erupts on Sumatra

On the island of Sumatra in Indonesia the Sinabung volcano has erupted.

12,000 people living in the area have been evacuated in what a spokesperson from the alert centre for volcanos in Indonesia described as a very dangerous situation adding they were on red alert in the country.

The volcano was spewing out the smoke and ashes over 1500 metres into the air.
