A supply manager for Apple has appeared in court in California charged with taking bribes from six Asian companies that supply iPhone and iPod accessories.

Paul Devine is accused of sharing confidential information with the suppliers to help them negotiate better contracts.

In a separate civil lawsuit, Apple said he had receiving more than one million dollars in payments and bribes.

Devine denies the charges.

Prosecutors told the court he is a flight risk and should not be granted bail.
