Torrential rain is continuing to sweep across central Europe wreaking havoc and triggering flash flooding.
In Slovakia the atrocious conditions have left one person dead and several missing.
Local roads were closed as rivers burst their banks -three bridges in the town of Handlova have been seriously damaged.
Hundreds of people have had to be evacuated as rising water threatened to flood their homes.
A man is said to have died when he tried to save his car.
Neighbouring Czech Republic has also been hit by the bad weather – some towns along the Neisse river have been flooded for a second time in a week.
And heavy thunderstorms and hail were also reported in Austria. River levels rose in some areas from their normal 20 centimetres to more than four metres.
Dozens of soldiers have been deployed to help locals protect their homes against the floods and to aid in the clean up in areas where the water has begun to recede.
