Oracle sues Google over Android

Oracle has accused Google of patent and copyright infringement over parts of the Android computer software used for smartphones.

It launched a law suit in California claiming Google “knowingly, directly and repeatedly infringed Oracle’s Java-related intellectual property.”

Oracle said it is seeking :appropriate remedies.”

It was not clear if that was cash compensation or a block on the use of the software.

A Google spokesman said he could not comment on the lawsuit as the company had not yet had a chance to review it.

Experts confirmed that Google’s Android operating system does use portions of Java technology.
