Two suspected members of ETA have been arrested in Spain’s Basque country. Heavily armed officers from the anti-terrorist branch of the Basque police raided two apartments in the early hours. Several boxes of documents were also taken away.
The operation took place in the town of Hernani. Gurutz Aguirresarobe Pagola was arrested, along with his former companion, Aitziber Ezkerra Segurajauregi.
Officers are investigating the murder of former police chief Joseba Pagazaurtunda. The 45-year-old was shot dead as he drank his morning coffee in a bar in the town of Andoain on the 8th of February 2003.
Those behind his killing have never been traced.
