Families weep for Pakistan plane crash dead

Immediately following the crash, relatives and friends of those on board the Islamabad bound flight swarmed ticket counters at the Pakistani capital’s airport desperate for information.

For many there was huge anguish and frustration as they tried in vain to find out what was happening.

“They’re not releasing details about how many are injured, and how many are dead, how they’re going about recovering bodies or how the rescue operation is progressing,’ said one of the victims’ relatives.

In Karachi, from where the flight had departed only a few hours before, distraught relatives poured over passenger lists for news of loved ones on the ill-fated plane.

But hope soon turned to despair as information filtered through that no one had survived despite earlier reports claiming the contrary.

The cause of the accident is still unclear with officials saying the plane was no more than 8 years old.
