Factory blast 'kills six' in China


At least six people have been killed in an explosion at a plastics factory in eastern China.

It happened in the city of Nanjing at 2:00 GMT on Wednesday.

Scores were injured as the blast ripped through buildings and vehicles within a 100-metre radius of the abandoned factory.

Nanjing is the capital of China’s eastern Jiangsu province.

Officials believe that a leaking gas pipeline caused the explosion.

Rescue workers have brought now brought the fire under control and continuing their search for the injured or dead.

The Reuters news agency reported that 300 people are receiving medical treatment.

50 of them have been seriously injured.
