Hollywood’s most famous Spanish couple Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz have got married in the Bahamas. The ceremony took place a few days ago after months of rumours that they were about to tie the knot.
At the Cannes film festival in May, Bardem used the occasion to declare his passion for the actress while receiving the prize for Best Actor for his part in “Biutiful”.
Few details have been released about the wedding; it was a private ceremony and Cruz wore a John Galiano dress.
The couple have been together since 2008, when they both starred in Woody Allen’s romantic comedy Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Penelope Cruz won an Oscar for best supporting actress in the film.
But her first performance with Bardem was sixteen years earlier in the Spanish comedy Jamon Jamon.
The couple have been very discreet about their relationship although this year they have appeared together at several awards ceremonies.
For both Bardem, who is 41, and Cruz, 36, it is their first marriage.
