It was party time in Barcelona as Spain erupted into celebrations after their football team won the World Cup.
Thousands gathered in city centres all over the country to watch the tense match in South Africa which went into extra time against the Netherlands.
The 1-0 win gave Spain their first World Cup title in history and their supporters were determined to make the most of the moment.
One girl said she had lived the match but thought Spain deserved to win. Another described it as “the match of her life”.
In Madrid, the so-called “fan zone”, in the centre of the capital exploded into raptures as the final whistle went making the European Champions, also Champions of the world.
Tears of joy fell as emotions boiled over – for many the word “incredible” summed it up.
The victorious team is expected to return home later today with an open top bus parade scheduled for the evening.
