UEFA President, Michel Platini, is spending the night in a South African hospital, after fainting at dinner.
The head of Europe’s football governing body had been suffering from the flu. He collapsed at the Pigalle restaurant in the Michelangelo Towers mall. The restaurant is attached to Fifa’s designated hotel in the Johannesburg suburb of Sandton.
FIFA Media Officer, Alain Leblanc said:
“No signs of any heart-related problems have been found. Mr Platini will be kept overnight for observation as a precautioary measure.”
Though it is not a heart attack as earlier suspected, Platini is undergoing tests at the hospital. FIFA say, so far, the tests are nothing to worry about and describe Platini as fine and conscious.
