Ten Kurdish militants and three Turkish soldiers are said to have been killed in an attack on a military base in southeastern Turkey.
Kurdish rebels from the PKK targeted the rural outpost close to the borders with Iraq and Iran. Elsewhere, nine Turkish soldiers were reported wounded in other clashes.
More than 80 soldiers have been killed this year, as the rebels have stepped up their attacks on the armed forces after ending a ceasefire.
The PKK, branded a terrorist organisation by the US and the EU, often launches operations from bases in northern Iraq.
In response, the Turkish military has carried out air strikes across the border. Last month, the prime minister vowed to fight the rebels until they were annihilated.
