Football officials asked to explain French fiasco

After a French fiasco at the World Cup, it is face the music time for the country’s soccer officials.

Outgoing coach Raymond Domenech and Football Federation President Jean-Pierre Escalettes have been called to parliament to explain the debacle.

The media was asked to leave as politicians began grilling the pair.

Escalattes announced he was stepping down on Monday after French Sports Minister Roselyne Bachelot said his resignation was “unavoidable.”

The French team disgraced itself after players refused to take part in a training session in support of expelled striker Nicolas Anelka. The squad then lost its next fixture against hosts South Africa, crashing out of the competition.
