Spanish retail sales fall

Retail sales in Spain were down for the second consecutive month in May.

Year-on-year they were 1.9 lower. In April they fell 2.4 percent.

Spaniards bought fewer electronic goods and food sales were also weak.

The figures undermine government forecasts for the economy to grow in each quarter this year after Spain feebly exiting the recession early in the year.
