Russian mission control has confirmed that a Soyuz capsule was successfully flown from one module of the International Space Station to another.

The crew, comprising of cosmonaut Fyodor Yurchikhin and US astronauts Douglas Wheelock and Shannon Walker carried out a three hour training session in preparation for the manoeuvre.

The operation was necessary to make way for an unmanned Russian capsule bringing supplies to the station on Friday. The transfer had been delayed by about 90 minutes because of problems with solar panels at the station.
