Total ends petrol sales to Iran

France’s Total has confirmed that it is the latest energy group to stop selling petrol to Iran.

A spokesman declined to say if the decision was linked to the approval by the US Congress of tough new unilateral sanctions that could hurt companies doing business with Tehran.

The move is part of sanctions aimed at curbing Iran’s nuclear programme.

Royal Dutch Shell, BP,Reliance Industries, and independent Swiss trader Glencore, are among suppliers that have already either stopped fuel sales to Iran or have made a decision not to enter into new trading agreements.
