IEA: oil supply will meet demand


Rising supplies will mostly offset higher demand for oil over the next five years according to the latest assessment by the International Energy Agency.

The IEA, which advises industrialised countries, said potential delays to new deepwater drilling projects following BP’s Gulf of Mexico spill may tighten supplies.

It has raised its oil demand growth outlook due to robust demand from emerging markets.
