The future of one of France’s most respected newspapers is looking a little brighter. A joint bid worth more than 100 million euros has been put in for loss-making Le Monde by France Telecom, Spanish firm Prisa and Claude Perdriel, the owner of French news magazine, Nouvel Observateur.

The group aims to buy a 34% stake in Le Monde from Lagardere with France Telecom mainly interested in the paper’s online activities.
