Sweden dresses up for royal wedding

Sweden is in royal wedding mood as Crown Princess Victoria prepares to marry her white collar boyfriend Daniel Westling, who will take the title of HRH Prince Daniel, Duke of Vastergotland.

The pair met in 2001 when Mr Westling became the princesses’ personal trainer at the luxury gym he owns.

A host of Europe’s royals will be on hand to give the union their blessing.

The couple will marry this afternoon at Stockholm Cathedral and the newlyweds are then expected to be driven through the city in a horse-drawn carriage.

Wedding memorabilia has been slow to leave the shelves as ordinary Swedes appear unimpressed by the nuptials.

Still the wedding offers a rest from the scandals surrounding the royal family. Earlier this year Victoria’s brother, Prince Carl Philip, was in the spotlight after he dumped his long-term fiancee for a 26-year-old reality TV star who posed topless with a python.
