New iPhone sells at record rate

Apple says it sold more than 600,000 of its new iPhone model on the first day it was available in the US.

The device is on track to surpass sales of previous iPhone models.

The stellar demand sounds a strong challenge to rivals like Nokia which has just warned of weaker-than-expected sales.
