Euro zone industrial production surges

Euro zone industrial output surged in April by a record 9.5 percent year-on-year.

That is more than in any month since the creation of the euro zone at the start of 1991.

The EU’s statistics office Eurostat said that month-on-month industrial production rose 0.8 percent.

But weak production of consumer goods showed demand among consumers remains fragile.
