More deadly violence in Mexico. Police said 20 people were found dead in the northeastern city of Ciudad Madero. The killings occured at several locations throughout the town, including a local beach.
The victims were discovered bound, gagged and handcuffed and had apparently been tortured. The authorities have so far not confirmed whether the killings were linked to drug crime.
In a second incident, armed men stormed a drug recovery clinic in the northern city of Chihuahua, killing 19 people. The unknown assailants grabbed the patients, all of them young men, lined them up execution-style and opened fire.
Police said the killers left messages claiming their victims were members of a drug gang. It was the latest in a wave of attacks on drug rehabilitation centres in northern Mexico.
