Sculpture in Evora

A private collection featuring more than a 1,000 pieces of sculpture is on display in the Portuguese city of Evora.

Says sculpter Marc Sijan: “I try to have somebody be able to look at somebody and feel comfortable that they are wondering, what’s he smiling at? What’s he thinking about ? What’s he doing here, where’s he been where’she going? That’s what I want people to contemplate, what’s going on here?”

The collection features pieces from more than 500 artists.

The collection will be on display until 31st August.

Liz Taylor portrait by Andy Warhol

A rare portrait of Elizabeth Taylor by Andy Warhol is to be auctioned at Christie’s in London on 30th June.

“Silver Liz” dates from 1963 and has not been seen in public for more than 20 years.

Says Francis Outred of Christie’s: “This is really a coming together of two cultural greats of their time and Andy (Warhol) was really obsessed with Liz Taylor, he was obsessed with her glamour, and Liz grew to love Andy as well and we have this wonderful letter she wrote to him in the late 70’s, saying I love you Andy.”

This portrait is estimated to be worth around 10 million euros.
