Turkish police targeted by roadside bomb

At least 15 people have been hurt by a roadside bomb in Istanbul.

The attack happened as a police minibus was passing a hospital in the Kucukcekmece suburb, on the outskirts of the country’s largest city.

Police officers in the vehicle and a number of passers-by were injured.

Istanbul is currently hosting a regional security summit and this device went off some 20 kilometres from where heads of state are meeting.

Kurdish, leftist and Islamist guerrillas have all carried out bombing in the city in the past few years. But it is unclear who was behind this latest attack.
