British insurer Prudential has confirmed it is trying to cut the amount it has agreed to pay for AIA the Asian division of American Insurance Group.
Some Prudential shareholders have threatened to block the sale of new shares needed to raise the $35.5 billion dollar purchase price which they say is too high.
Reportedly Prudential wants to reduce the price by $5 billion.
