Double blast at Russian mine

At least 12 miners have been killed and 40 injured in a methane blast at the largest underground coal mine in Russia.

Some 64 miners are still trapped in the
Raspadskaya pit near Mezhdurechensk, along with 20 rescue workers blocked by a second explosion four hours later.

That blast forced authorities to halt rescue efforts although they are trying to pump air into the mine.
