Exit polls from Austria’s presidential election show incumbent leader Heinz Fishcher is heading for a thumping victory. The Social Democrat
appears to be polling around 78 per cent of the vote.
The pro-European has been attacked by critics as being too timid, avoiding controversy.
Fisher’s main rival Barbara RosenKranz is currently on around 16 percent, while third candidate Rudolf Gehring looks set to take around six percent of the vote.
Dubbed ‘Reich Mother’ Rosenkranz is known for her anti-European and anti-immigrant views. She has previously called for Austria’s strict anti-Nazi laws to be reversed.
