Injuries after bomb blast in Northern Ireland

world news

| |

In Northern Ireland, three people have been injured in a car bomb. The explosion happened just after midnight outside the police station in the town of Newtownhamilton in County Armagh.

A phone call to a hospital in Belfast, about an hour earlier, warned that a car had been abandoned in the town.

The three people were taken to hospital in Newry although their injuries are not thought to be life- threatening.

The explosion comes after reports indicate that the threat posed by dissident republicans has risen to the highest level in 12 years.
