Gene clue to better prostate cancer treatment

British scientists believe they have identified why some prostate cancer cells are more aggressive than others.

It is the most common male cancer, claiming the lives of more than a quarter of a million men a year.

Researchers near London have found three genetic abnormalities which when combined have a dramatic impact on a patient’s survival prospects.

They believe testing for them could help doctors with the early targeting of specific tumours for more robust treatment.
