Two policemen are reported killed and at least one more wounded in a suicide bomb attack in Russia’s North Caucasus region of Ingushetia. It happened in Karabulak about twenty kilometres from the regional capital Magas.
The authorities say the bomber detonated a belt of explosives as police officers arrived by car at the local interior ministry. Shortly afterwards there was a second explosion near the same building but no victims are reported.
The bombing follows suicide attacks in Moscow and the Dagestan region of the Caucasus over the past week that killed 50 people. Chechen rebels claimed they carried out the Moscow bombings and threatened further attacks against Russian cities. Yesterday saw a twin attack on a railway line in Dagestan.
Investigators in Moscow have identified a 17 year old girl they say was one of two suicide bombers behind the attacks on the metro.
