US-Russian crew docks safely at ISS

A joint US and Russian crew in a Soyuz space ship has arrived safely at the International Space Station.

The Soyuz TMA-18 docked successfully two days after blasting off from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

The spacecraft was carrying Russian cosmonauts Alexander Skvortsov and Mikhail Korniyenko with American astronaut Tracy Caldwell Dyson.

Meanwhile back on planet earth the countdown has begun ahead of Monday’s launch of the space shuttle Discovery.

The American craft with a crew of seven will deliver equipment and supplies to the ISS.

It will be the fourth from last Shuttle mission before the fleet is retired later this year.
