At least 15 people have been killed and 35 others injured in a series of explosions in central Baghdad.
Iraq’s Interior Ministry said two bombs blew up in the Mansour district, one close to the German embassy. A third device went off near the Iranian and Egyptian embassies.
Gunshots could clearly be heard as emergency services rushed to the scene.
Authorities say the bombs were all planted in cars and went off within minutes of each other, suggesting a carefully coordinated attack.
Officials believe insurgents are deliberately using tactics designed to cause the maximum amount of chaos and end a relative period of calm after last month’s parliamentary elections.
The blasts come two days after 25 Sunnis were killed – execution-style – in a village near Baghdad.
