Twenty five people have been shot dead in a village in southern Baghdad by gunmen wearing Iraqi army uniforms say authorities there.

Between 10 and 15 gunmen stormed three houses late on Friday in the village of Sufiya in the Rasheed district of the Iraqi capital, a Sunni Muslim enclave.

The victims – including women and children and all said to be from the same family – were handcuffed and shot in the head.
