In Sofia, Bulgaria, the Danube Music Festival is being held on a boat called the A38. It’s an old Russian tanker which has been converted into a concert hall and a recording studio.
The Danube Musique Festival includes musicians from all over the Balkans and features a mix of music from all over the region.
The most well-known Kaval player in Bulgaria is Theodossi Spassov. He said, “For me, the most important thing is to create friendships through music and to share my personal experiences with other musicians, other friends. The aim is through music to get closer to people, to understand them better, and to realise that we all live in the same world, even if we live in different countries.”
