Attempted coup in Guinea-Bissau

world news

| |

Latest reports from Guinea-Bissau say the Prime Minister is under house arrest. Carlos Junior was over-powered in his office by soldiers. Later claims said he had been released. These have been discounted. He has been taken to his official residence where he is now being held.

Events unfolded after soldiers had tried to free the former head of the country’s navy who was being held in the UN building.

The navy chief was responsible for an attempted coup two years ago in the former Portuguese colony.
