Death toll in Russian bombs rises

Two more bombings have hit Russia. At least 12 people, including a top local police official, have been killed by two suicide bombings in Russia’s North Caucasus republic of Dagestan.

The town of Kizlyar in the north of the region was rocked in the blasts, two days after a terrorist group from the North Caucasus is suspected of being behind the attack in Moscow in which 39 died.

Nine of the dead in this latest attack are reported to be police officers, up to 20 are injured in hospital. After the first blast another bomber, reported to have been dressed in a police uniform, blew himself up 20 minutes later as a crowd gathered.
